About the Chef
Chris began cooking for family and friends at an early age, learning Hungarian recipes and techniques from his mother and grandmother. As a child, Chris could be found in the kitchen, helping prepare large pots of slowly simmering soup, hand-made dumplings, and European desserts. Meanwhile, he learned a classic approach to American recipes and he developed a genuine appreciation for the ‘professional kitchen’ from his father, who was a kitchen manager. Sunday mornings were set-aside for Chris to be “Sous Chef” to his Dad; helping create hearty omelets, making light & fluffy pancakes, and getting that bacon beautifully crisp!
Chef Chris started his cooking career when he was 16 years old as a dishwasher and short order cook, while attending vocational high school in their culinary arts department. He has a formal cooking education from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He has spent the last 20+ years of his career honing his skills in professional kitchens: ranging from The Boston Harbor Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton, to some of the finest private clubs in the Boston area. Chris has continued to develop his culinary skills, constantly taking additional courses through his alma-mater and in January of 2017, completed his second level of the Culinary Institute of America’s Certified Professional Chef accreditation program.
Chef Chris’s hunger for food knowledge is spread among a wide variety of cuisines from many different cultures: from studying Indian Cuisine under the legendary Chef Julie Sahni, in Brooklyn, New York, to learning about southeast Asian cuisine while traveling to Saigon, Vietnam. Also, Chris has taken bread making courses at King Arthur Flour in Vermont to ensure that all of the breads served at The Lazy Bubble are made to utter perfection!
While leading successful kitchen teams as an executive chef, Chef Chris has been planning and dreaming of owning his own restaurant since his mid-twenties. His goal is to provide his guests with the high quality cuisines that one would normally have to travel into the city for, and in a much more casual, comfortable environment in his own home town, set right in the heart of downtown Pepperell.
